| Helen D. Curren, age 89, of Kittanning, PA, died on Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital. She was born on September 5, 1922, in Pine Twp., Armstrong Co., PA, the daughter of William L. and Nora (Slagle) Sharrer. Helen was a resident of the Kittanning area most of her life and dedicated her time to taking care of her family. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling and she also liked playing bingo with her friends. Spending time at camp with her family was a favorite pastime and she will be best remembered for the caring nature she shared with all she knew. She will be deeply missed by her son, William G. Curren, Jr. and wife, Linda, of Warren, PA; daughter, Ann Gilbert and husband, David, of Kittanning; four grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 45 years, William G. Curren, Sr., who died May 16, 1986; brothers, Paul Sharrer, Luther "Dude" Lewis Sharrer, Orris Sharrer and Morgan Sharrer; and sisters, Mary Unger, Gaynell Miller and Stella Reitz. Relatives and friends may visit from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM on Friday, June 8, 2012, at the Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 515 N. McKean Street, Kittanning. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2012, at the funeral home from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Burial Estates, E. Franklin Twp., Armstrong Co., PA. Memorial contributions may be made in Helen's honor to the Down Syndrome Association of Pittsburgh, 5513 William Flynn Hwy 283, Gibsonia, PA 15044 or the Autism Society of Pittsburgh, 4371 Northern Pike, Monroeville, PA 15146.
