Donald Reid McCausland Sr., 79, of Rural Valley RD1 (Cowanshannock Township) died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003 at Kittanning Care Center.

He was born May 14, 1924 in Sagamore to John R. and Bertha D. (Aul) McCausland .

Mr. McCausland was a coal miner for R&P Coal Company.

He was an Army veteran, serving in World War II.

He was a member of NuMine Presbyterian Church and enjoyed farming.

Survivors include three sons, Donald R. McCausland Jr. of Shelocta RD1 and Larry J. McCausland and Dennis L. McCausland , both of Rural Valley RD1; three daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Charlene) Rupp, Mrs. Jeffrey (Maxine) Fairman and Mrs. Brent (Kathleen) Keeler, all of Rural Valley RD1; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Clair McCausland of Warren, Ohio; and four sisters, Florence Cooper of Sagamore, Dorothy Shotts of Dayton, Grace Large of Inverness, Fla., and Shirley Shemo of Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Charolotte (McMasters) McCausland who died May 11, 1996; one brother, Clark McCausland ; and one infant sister.

MCCAUSLAND Friends of Donald Reid McCausland Sr., 79, of Rural Valley RD1 (Cowanshannock Township), who died Nov. 22, 2003, were received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Carson/Boyer Funeral Home, Inc., 724 Main St., Rural Valley, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Dr. William McConnell officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington. Arrangements by Carson/Boyer.
