Ambrose Family Album
Generation 2. Grant W. Ambrose (1870-1932).

Grant W. Ambrose, son of Joseph Ritner and Margaret (Dougherty) Ambrose. This photo is undated; the photographer's mark is Walter S. Otto of Kittanning, PA.
Grant was born in 1870, four years before the family moved to Cowanshannock, so it's probable that he was born on the family farm in East Franklin Township. As far as I know, he lived the rest of his life in Rural Valley. In 1895, Grant married Lena Gourley. Their children were Sidney Ward (1895-1980), Helen (?-1977) and Marie (1909-1996). Lena died in 1923.Grant was quite civic-minded. His obituary states that he held several posts on the Board of Election, and that he was Street Commissioner at the time of his death in 1932.Grant and Lena are buried in the Rural Valley Cemetery, as is their son Sidney Ward and daughter-in-law Virginia Calhoun.Helen married William Anderson and is probably buried next to him in Oakmont Cemetery near Pittsburgh.Marie married John Buzard and raised a large family. They lived near Parker City and Bruin. Marie was a delightful person and also had a lot of musical talent. Marie and John are both buried in Dutch Hill Cemetery in West Monterey PA.
