Mrs. S.G. Cook's Farewell Reception

Name of newspaper unknown, but probably the old "Rural Valley Advance"

Farewell Reception

A pleasant social event took place Wednesday, Sept. 4 at the home of Mrs. S.G. Cook and family when fifty two friends and neighbors gathered there shortly before the dinner hour with well filled baskets and tendered them a farewell reception. A more delicious dinner could not be desired and those present certainly did justice to themselves and when all had partaken several baskets remained and were sent to friends who were prevented from being there. The afternoon was spent pleasantly in singing, pitching rings, roaming over the place and groups conversing here and there. The family will visit with relatives until after the Dayton Fair, when they will start the first week in Oct. for their new home in California.

It is with hopes of success for the future, but expressions of regret on the part of their friends that they depart from this vicinity where they have lived all their lives and made many intimate friends.

Especially will they be missed at church where they have rendered valuable services. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. J.A. McIntire, Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Beck, Mr. and Mrs. John Geiger, Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Geiger and family, Mr. and Mrs. J.H. McIntire and family, Mrs. Jennie Schrecengost, granddaughter Josephine, Mrs. and Mrs. S.J. McElwain, S.E. Steffey and daughter Mrs. W.F. Groves, Mrs. J.
